Today thousands of people at more than 240 rallies around the world came out for "Global Cannabis Day."

In fact, right here in Medford, nearly 200 people marched and rallied in Alba Park this afternoon.

The main message of today's event was to show support for the legalization of marijuana, and that if legalized it could help the state's budget.

"As medical marijuana Oregon has proven, we are completely self-sustaining, and finically generating to the budget of the State of Oregon as the numbers have shown very clearly."

Today's rally was organized by Southern Oregon NORML, currently the group is trying to pass a number of legalization bills in Salem.
