A surprise win: before Alabama and Mississippi voted, not a single major poll had Rick Santorum in the lead. Tuesday night he won both states.

Santorum won Mississippi with a third of the vote-- and Alabama with 35%.

Newt Gingrich came in second in both states.

Mitt Romney gave a statement, congratulating Santorum and claimed delegates from Mississippi and Alabama put him closer to the nomination.

Hawaii also voted Tuesday-- Romney won there, with almost a third of the vote. Santorum came in second. Ron Paul was third, and Gingrich-- last.
