It's been an issue in Josephine County for the past several months but the tight budget cuts mean more criminals won't even be taken to jail.

In late May, the jail cut the number of local inmates the county holds to 30 inmates.

That's down from about 120 from earlier this year.

Sheriff Gil Gilbertson says there is no room in the budget to hold more inmates.

Now to give you a quick example of how the latest cut is working, officials say that they recently only cited and released four burglars who stole more than ten-thousand dollars worth of equipment from a local non-profit organization.
