It's an issue that has everyone talking: public safety in Josephine County.
Friday morning, The city of Grants Pass is gearing up for Safety Awareness Day.
The free, city-wide event features presentations from the sheriff's office on their K-9 unit, as well as Search and Rescue.
The sheriff's office will also be providing free digital fingerprints on CD's.
The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety to the Josephine County Health Department are also participating.
This event follows a failed tax levy to support criminal justice in josephine county, which was rejected by voters on Tuesday's primary.
By the end of the month, close to 63 employees will be out of the job, and 90 inmates will be released from the jail, among other changes.
A similar tax levy was proposed in 2008 and failed.
If you are interested in attending the Safety forum, the event is being held by the Grants Pass shopping center, located at 840 NE F street.
It's happening Saturday, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. It is free to the public.
