A coalition of local and national marijuana activists are working to end cannabis prohibition in the state of Oregon.

The organization called "New Approach Oregon" filed a petition with the Secretary of State's office Friday.

The petition seeks to legalize pot in the state.

Anthony Johnson, Director of New Approach Oregon, says the group will be working with legislature during the upcoming session.

They will need a total of over 80,000 signatures to get it on next year's ballot.
