Tom Cole, Executive Director at Kids Unlimited in Medford said he's been hard at work.

"We've submitted an application to the Medford School District based on a program ideology that we hope will someday land a school," said Cole.

It's the second time, he's tried to convince the Medford School District that a new charter school headed up by Kids Unlimited would be a good idea.

"I think the first application we submitted fell short," said Cole about the last go-around.

"They had a different proposal last time. They were focusing on a middle school," said Dr. Phil Long, the Medford School District Superintendent.

So, Cole's team went back to the drawing board and came up with the new K-8 education plan.

"It includes an early childhood education component with a partnership with the Family Nurturing Center and Ontrack," said Cole.

In addition, he said the plan is to have longer school days with more opportunities for parents to interact with their kids outside normal work hours.

"It's not a criticism of public education, but it's a recognition that we have to do more now," began Cole.

"We have kids that are falling through the cracks and not every shoe fits the same," he continued.

Meantime, officials at the Medford School District said they're in the middle of the review process and they plan to have an answer for Cole by Thursday.

Last year Kids Unlimited received a $133,000 grant to buy a building near Kids Unlimited which would be used to nurture family relationships and help transition kids up to age five into the charter school environment.
