Klamath Falls, Ore. -- Military veterans will soon be getting some extra 'perks' in Klamath County.

According to Klamath County Clerk Linda Smith the county and the Veterans Service Office will begin a 'veterans recognition program' starting next week "As you come into Klamath County, our signs say, 'Welcome to Klamath County, we honor veterans' - and I wanted to put something out there that showed that we really do."

Vets can get a free photo ID allowing them to get discounts at participating local businesses.

"We have approximately 40 businesses at this point in time, and they're coming in hourly. So this is a changing field for us right now, and we're pretty excited" said Kathy Pierce, Klamath County Veterans Service Officer.

The County Clerk will begin issuing the cards to vets at 9am on Tuesday, April 15th.

Veterans will need to bring their military discharge papers to apply.
