Klamath Falls, Ore. -- A mother and father from Klamath Falls have been indicted by a grand jury on charges of 2nd-degree manslaughter.

Danielle and Thomas Hevener were arrested last Thursday in connection with the death of their son, 18-month old Jeffrey Hevener.

The toddler was found dead in their home on February 16th.

The medical examiner ruled the cause of death as accidental strangulation.

The DA says that while the death was not intentional, the parents may still be responsible. "We took our time with the facts on this, and had additional investigation, and interviews, and made the determination this was manslaughter by neglect." said Klamath County District Attorney Rob Patridge.

"The charges that were filed on this were manslaughter 2, criminal mistreatment on 5 counts for the 5 different children, and child neglect times 5." said Klamath County Sheriff's Office Detective Nick Kennedy.

Police say the couple had been locking their children in their bedrooms from 5pm to 7am.

Thomas and Danielle Hevener were released from jail Friday after posting bail.
