A lack of funding could close Jackson County's Justice Court, as soon as next year.

Officials say closing the Justice Court would transfer roughly 15,000 traffic citations to the Jackson County Circuit Court.

The possible closure follows a new law, that increased funds to the state from local traffic violations, as well as cut surcharges on citations.

Recent reports put the budget gap at about $500,000.
