Man Arrested For Possession Of 55 Pounds of Heroin

A man is arrested near Ashland for carrying nearly 55 pounds of heroin.

Oregon State Police say they pulled over 65 year old Raul Mendoza last Thursday for a traffic violation on I-5.

Upon further investigation, police found 15 individually sealed packages of heroin.

Mendoza was arrested and lodged in the Jackson County Jail for unlawful possession and distribution of a controlled substance.

Investigators believe the heroin has an estimated value of $1.1 million.
