The Medford Police Department is a million dollars richer.
NBC 5 confirmed with officials that the Oregon Court of Appeals ruled late Wednesday that the department *would* be able to collect a million dollar prize originally awarded to a woman back in 2005.
MPD has been in a long court battle against a woman named Christina Goodenow, who they discovered stole the identity of her boyfriend's mother to make $12,000 in purchases, including lotto tickets.
One of goodenow's tickets won the jackpot, but it wasn't until an investigation by Medford Police that she used a false identity.
Goodenow was sentenced to probation and finally forced to forfeit the winnings to the Police Department since they were the ones to crack the case.
