Medford police say crime rate is highest in summer

Medford, Ore. -- Medford police are took a look at their crimes stats and found that the busiest month for crime last year was July, (followed by May, June and August).

They say that summer outpaces the winter months in crime -- with the exception of December.

Police say summer months often provide more opportunities for criminals to take advantage of you, with many people vacationing in the summer and leaving windows open for a cool breeze in these hot temperatures.

They also say that there are more domestic assaults in July.
