The Rogue Valley's only Mexican folk dance troupe is celebrating a major milestone this Friday.  Ballet Folklorico Ritmo Alegre is celebrating its 15th year of empowering young Southern Oregon students through dance.  It's a quinceanera of sorts.

The non-profit trains young students of all backgrounds  in traditional Mexican folk dance.  Organizers say it fosters a positive outlet for these kids, as well as a sense of passion, confidence and pride in their heritage.  This year the group was honored to have a visiting master instructor from Mexico.

This Friday they will perform at their annual gala and fundraiser at Medford's Central High School at 7pm. Tickets are on sale at La Placita and El Tapatio as well as at the door.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youngsters.
