A woman serving a 20 year sentence for aggravated attempted murder escaped from the Oregon State Hospital Friday, and police believe the woman may be headed to Klamath Falls.
40 year old Martie Mitchell was found 'guilty, but insane' in 2010 of attempting to kill a Klamath County Sheriff's Detective.
Sergeant Shawn Richards of the Klamath County Sheriff's Office says police are concerned that she may be headed back to Klamath Falls, and still targeting that officer...
"We've taken measures not only to locate her, because she definitely does have local ties - but also to protect the family."
Mitchell was last seen at around 10 Friday evening, when she walked away from a low security group home.
Mitchell stands 5 foot 1, weighs 212 pounds, and has red hair and green eyes.
Whle State Police say Mitchell doesn't pose a threat, Sheriff's deputies beg to differ: "And it is our opinion that absolutely, she is dangerous." Noted Sergeant Richards.
Mitchell's threats to kill the detective were sparked by an investigation into drug and child abuse charges against Mitchell in 2004. Mitchell's son and daughter were eventually placed in state custody.
