Police said it was near 9th and Almond Streets in Medford where 58-year-old William Huson's cab ended up after he was killed. He was a driver for Valley Cab.

"No question at this point that this is a homicide," said Chief Tim George of the Medford Police.

Police believe it all started when Huson picked up a passenger near Howiee's on Front Saturday nigh. Police said he told dispatchers he was headed to Vilas Road. But after hours of not hearing from Huson, dispatchers got worried and contacted police.

On Sunday morning around 8:30, police found Huson's body in a field off Vilas Road near the Medford Airport with a gunshot to the head. Investigators said they think the killer then drove the cab back to 9th and Almond and took off.

"We are hoping the car will yield some critical forensic evidence," said Lieutenant Mike Budreau with the Medford Police.

On Monday officers reviewed security camera footage taken at Howiee's. They're calling it a key piece of evidence, but it's still not enough.

"You never know what the next hour will bring," said Lt. Budreau.

Now police are asking the community for help trying to track down a killer still on the loose.

Police said they want to hear from anyone with any information.

"What's important right now is we don't have a suspect, and we need witness information. Let us decide if it's valid or not. There's no such thing as bad information in a case like this," said Chief George.

Currently, police said they do not have any persons of interest.

Medford Police can be contacted at 541-770-4783. The Case Agent is Detective Young.

While police have not said what the motive was but it appears to be robbery.
