Neighbors say the man, facing murder charges, bludgeoned another man to death with a golf club iron. The murder suspect recently started his parole after serving a seven year sentence for his guilty plea to a 2004 attempted murder.
The man suspected of killing another man in an unprovoked assault, witnesses say he did it with the victims very own set of golf clubs. Police say Travis Donald Asbill came to this apartment complex on almond street in Medford Sunday afternoon and beat a man to death. While police wouldn't get into the details, there were several witnesses in the area who confirmed that this man beat another with a golf club iron. 54 year-old man named Donald William Mack was pronounced dead just thirty minutes later at the hospital from what is believed to be severe head injuries. With the news out about the murder word spread quickly. An unnamed man who's served jail time with Asbill says he has gang ties and a history of drug abuse that fueled his problems. In 2004 Travis Asbill plead guilty to attempted murder after shooting and stabbing a man at a trail-head off Crowfoot Road on morning in 2003.
Attorney's described the incident as a methamphetamine-induced psychosis that caused Asbill to hallucinate. He got seven years before being released to serve his parole. Today he's back in jail this time for facing murder. A lot of the details are not being released because of the investigation but talking to those who were around- the people on the streets, we hear that Asbill was there to see a girl who was staying at the home.Tonight the apartment is empty and guarded by police as evidence to a brutal murder. Police are still looking to talk with people who where there that night asking them to come forward.
