Two hundred anti-GMO activists marched from the Medford Grower's Market to Alba Park in Medford for "National Day of Food Freedom"

GMO Free Jackson County, a volunteer committee, organized the march after a bill signed by Governor Kitzhaber authorized genetically modified crops to be controlled by the state rather the county.

"That's what I think people in the state of Oregon got a little fired up about what our legislators have made with that decision"

"Block that economic extraction that happens from the big corporations, that's our primary focus. Just to encourage the quality of life in the Rogue Valley."

Volunteers are now pushing to pass a local measure that would make Jackson County exempt from state control if passed in the 2014 election.
