Governor John Kitzhaber is in Washington to attend the president's state of the union address. He was invited by the first lady, Michelle Obama.
The governor hopes to hear the president include the state of Oregon in his speech when talking about how health care can be managed.
The Obama administration gave the state of Oregon $1.9 billion to curb budget woes, in return Oregon has to shed two percent of those on medicaid- a move that would save the state $11 billion over the next decade. It's not clear if Oregon's governor will be included in the president's speech. This comes on the heels of a new coordinated care program. 14 providers are teamed up with Asante to help unify treatment processes for patients.
