Pets Prepare for Holidays

Kittens were looking for a forever home today at the Southern Oregon Humane Society in Medford.

It was all a part of the 2nd annual Catstravaganza event where 25 adult cats who are spayed, neutered, and micro chipped were ready to be adopted for free.

"Right now in our whole region cats are in crisis. There are simply too many cats, not enough homes. All three shelters: C.A.T.S., Jackson County, and ourselves have a long waiting list of cats wanting, needing to come in and there's simply no room."

Within the first hour of the event ten cats were adopted. There are still a number of cats available and the event will go on tomorrow as well from 10 to 5pm.

Santa Claus gave a surprise visit to some local dogs in the Rogue Valley today.

The 8th annual Holi-daze event brought in hundreds of people to shop around the Grange Co-Op Pet Country store in Medford and take a photo with Santa.

"All of the benefits of this day goes to F.O.T.A.S., Friends of the Animal Shelter. They support surgeries and hard to adopt dogs. So we give back to the community and the dogs."

The event is expected to raise 13,000 dollars and continued with a dog fashion show. Each dog took home a special treat from Santa.
