Police were concerned about the call that came in around 1:26 a.m. to a West Medford neighborhood. Not only did the suicidal man have a gun but he's been in a situation like this before. Last year Medford police say 29 year-old Danny Allen Burlington attempted suicide using a .22 caliber pistol. That standoff ended when the gun discharged hitting Burlington in the shoulder. He was treated and charged with felony in possession of a firearm.

This time, Burlington was taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation and charged with disorderly conduct for apparently blocking traffic during his early morning rage on Wednesday. Neighbors claim the man has been having issues, dealing with the separation of his wife and children. Burlington is expected in court to face his charges in September.

Police are now concerned about the number of reported suicide calls they receive. Statistics are up 11 percent from last year. Some blame the lack of services in our area, other think education about getting help is more of the problem.
