A proposed measure on the May 2014 ballot is aiming to bring funding back to Jackson county libraries.

The measure would create a special district, made up of Ashland, Talent, Phoenix, Jacksonville, Applegate and Ruch.

Residents would see a tax rate of 60 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value.

The money would support all 15 Jackson county library branches.

Officials say without stable funding, 14 of 15 Jackson county libraries will close by July of next year.
