A Rogue River man is receiving a Carnegie Medal, recognizing an act of heroism.

John Haight is one of 19 people nation-wide receiving the medal, for pulling Leonard Wrobel out of the Rogue River, and resuscitating him, back in June 2011.

Haight is the only Oregonain to receive the honor this year, which also comes with a $5,000 grant.

The man says he plans on using the money to help kids learn to swim who otherwise couldn't afford lessons.
