Crater Lake National Park, Ore. -- Rangers at Crater Lake National Park are looking for a snowshoer, missing for more than a week.
They say the man came to the park on April 28th, rented some snow-shoes and then set off to hike and take pictures.
Rangers say they found his car and tracks leading to a "snow cornice" that had collapsed; a cornice is when snow forms on an over-hang, but there's no solid ground underneath. Extensive search efforts in that area by ground and air have not located the individual.
The search has been scaled back, but is ongoing as weather and snow conditions permit. Investigation of the lakeshore by boat will occur once access is possible.
Rangers have been searching since the man was reported missing on April 30th.
