Ashland, Ore. -- Southern Oregon University released their final retrenchment plan Friday, in an effort to make up university debt.

In the 29 page report, the university explains the reasoning behind each of the cuts, which includes the elimination of about 25 faculty members.

Most of the cuts stem from a lack of enrollment and range from art history to minors in German and French.

SOU President Dr. Mary Cullinan said more programs could have been cut if it wasn't for recent contract agreements, where teachers agreed to fore-go raises both this year and next.

"All the administrators who are making more than $50,000 a year are taking furlough days. And now the faculty are sharing the sacrifice. We are doing a lot together as a university community to help stabilize us financially," Cullinan explained.

If students are currently enrolled in any of the programs that have been put on the chopping block, they still will be able to finish their studies.

Current students have until April 1st to declare, if they plan on entering any of those programs.
