The Eagle Point school board voted Wednesday to give the district emergency authority to respond to a strike threat by the employees’ union.
The union declared Tuesday, May 8th the first day the employees will walk off the job and strike.
As a first step, the district will close schools and cancel all school activities except for high school athletic competitions on Monday and Tuesday, May 7th and 8th.
The district will announce additional plans for re-opening school buildings in the coming days.
Plans will be posted on the district website, in addition the district will be sending letters and e-mail to communicate to families.
