The fate of timber payments in Josephine County is right now in the hands of Congress.

Congress is set to vote on a transportation bill by June 30th.
Attached to that bill is a one year extension of timber payments.
Those payments are used to fund public safety and the Josephine County Sheriff's Office.
If the measure is passed, it will bring 4.5 million dollars into Josephine County.
On Tuesday, voters will decide whether to pass a tax levy to fund  public safety in the county.
