We are following two attempted kidnappings, both in Josephine county.

On Sunday-- a Grants Pass man has been arrested for attempting to kidnap a 10 year old girl, after 3 previous run-ins with police in the same day.

Matthew Wayne Walker is lodged in the Josephine County Jail, after police say he confronted a 10-year-old girl and her mother on Sunday.

When the man tried to grab the girl, her mother stepped between them and told the girl to run away. Walker reportedly pushed the mother and fled, but police caught up with him nearby.

Now, earlier in the day-- he was causing trouble at a Dutch Bros. coffee stand. Walker was arrested on a charge of second-degree criminal trespassing, but was later released with a citation-- because the Josephine County Jail couldn't take him on that charge.

Walker now remains in jail, his bail is set at $15,000.

This is a prime example as to why residents in that county are upset about possible major cuts to public safety.

Meanwhile, police are still on the look out for a man suspected of trying to kidnap a 15 year old girl in O'Brien last Friday.

Police say the 15 year old went out for a jog  about a half mile from her home as a black van with tinted windows and California plates pulled up to the end of a bridge on Waldo road.

A masked man got out and grabbed the young girl from behind and tried to drag her in the van.

She did successfully escape.

The investigation into both of these cases will continue.
