Dozens of teens and parents showed their support at the North Medford High School track in a "Walk for Lupus."

Lupus is an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in different parts of the body. It can be life threatening.

Shelby Spiker, who organized the event, said several members of her family are battling the disease."My mom, my aunt, and my cousin have lupus...our main goal was awareness and to raise some money and we had probably 45 people come."

Researchers aren't sure what causes Lupus, but they think some people might have a genetic predisposition to the disease.
