A couple of property owners in Josephine County are upset after being told to foot the bill to fix what might be a broken water well pipe even though It's not theirs.
After receiving a call from a concerned homeowner we found this hole in the ground that has been pouring water out for more than a month. Homeowners nearby say they have been searching for a way to have it fixed but aren't entirely happy with being stuck with the bill. Mostly because the water well isn't theirs but it is on their property. The well is used by two homes more than a block up the street. Many of the homes in this area are fitted with well's for water use and people in this neighborhood think that this water problem could be caused by a broken pipe underground. While water has been spilling out for nearly six weeks, these homeowners are trying to figure out who's responsible for the fix. Today they Oregon Resources Department made a visit to the home with the problem but didn't do an official inspection. The reason is because they're not fully convinced that it has anything to do with the water wells in the area and no one has complained about water pressure. The Resources Department, a state agency thinks it could be an artesian spring. A naturally occurring rise in water from the ground. Neighbors are not convinced- Meanwhile, the Oregon Resources Department say they can't do much unless a significant amount of water is being wasted. Land owners say it is water wasted but they're being told to figure it out on their own.
