Imagine a wildfire in close proximity to your home with embers falling down on your property. Medford fire officials say residents in fire prone areas should gear up for wildfire potential in their community now.

February is months away from the height of fire season, but fire officials say this is the time residents in fire prone areas should prepare their homes.

The Medford Fire Department is offering free home evaluations for anyone living in the hazardous wildfire areas. The goal of an evaluation is to advise homeowners about efforts they should take to reduce home igition hazards.

Fire officials will make suggestions on how to create "defensible space," free area around a home that prevents fire from spreading to a structure.

To schedule a free home evaluation call Medford Fire Deparment 541-774-2300.
