Ten year old Alexa Schmidt is standing her own ground, calling upon county leaders to place a moratorium on genetically modified crops in Jackson County.

She says her motivation comes from the things she's learned and how she feels about the food she eats.

"I want to let people know that I don't need a GMO in my life and I want to help the know they don't need one either."
