Updated (2/25 10:30 a.m.) A weeks-old baby was found dead Wednesday morning in a Northern California slough, according to Yolo County sheriff's officials, who suspect it is that of missing Justice Rees.

No more information was immediately available, which was confirmed by sister station KCRA in Sacramento.

Sacramento, Calif. --- (NBC News) Police from all over the state are looking for a two-week-old baby boy who has been missing since Monday near Sacramento.

The search for Justice Rees is focused around Knight’s Landing, which is in Yolo County, along the Sacramento River, according to Woodland Police Capt. Dale Johnson.

Sister station KCRA reported that the baby's 23-year-old mother, Samantha Green, was also considered missing for a time, but turned up late Tuesday afternoon. It's not clear where she was, but she is safe, police told KCRA.

Various police agencies are helping to look for the boy, including search and rescue crews from Marin County, according to Lt. Doug Pittman. Pittman said the baby is 27 days old. Officials were not able to immediately explain the age discrepancy.

The Yolo County Sheriff asked the California Office of Emergency Services for help, according to Pittman, and authorities in Contra Costa, Alameda, Sonoma and Napa counties were also asked to assist, mostly to send search dogs.

Sheriff's officials did not immediately release any more information.

Calif. --- (NBC News) Dozens of Southern California commuters were injured Tuesday morning when a Metrolink train derailed after slamming into a vehicle abandoned on the tracks near Oxnard.

The impact knocked three of the train's five cars to their side, injuring 28 of the 51 people on board.

"The extent of injuries ranged from significant head trauma and extremity trauma to  neck and back injuries, and generally, normal trauma that you would think from being thrown around." said Ventura County Emergency Medical Service's Steve Carroll.

Four of the injured are listed in critical condition.

Debris from the truck was scattered at the marked crossing and at a nearby intersection.   The driver of the vehicle fled the scene.

"We don't know why, but he was found a little while later, some miles down the road, unharmed.  He is currently in police custody," said Oxnard Fire Department Sgt. Sergio Martinez.

California farmer water worries http://kobi5.com/news/national-world-news/item/farmer-water-worries.html http://kobi5.com/news/national-world-news/item/farmer-water-worries.html California farmer water worries

Calif. -- (KCRA) With water in short supply, farmers who grow almonds and other crops told KCRA 3 on Sunday that prices are likely to rise in the months ahead.

That means consumers will have to pay more for Jam'n J's roasted almonds.

And for Will Lee, an organic farmer who employs 150 people at Farm Fresh To You in Capay, the drought's impact is already hitting hard.

"It's keeping the creek really low," Lee said. "It's making it really hard on the farmers to obtain their water sources, so we have to use pumps (and) things like that."

For a century now, almonds have been an essential crop for the Capay Valley, located in the rolling hills west of Woodland in Yolo County.

But now, water shortages are also causing widespread concern for residents, because groundwater levels have dropped dramatically due to the drought.

Attempted kidnapping at a Forest Grove Elementary School http://kobi5.com/news/national-world-news/item/attempted-kidnapping-at-forest-grove-elementary-school.html http://kobi5.com/news/national-world-news/item/attempted-kidnapping-at-forest-grove-elementary-school.html Attempted kidnapping at a Forest Grove Elementary School

Forest Grove, Ore.-- The Washington County Sheriff's Office says a homeless man walked into a Forest Grove Elementary School Thursday afternoon and tried to kidnap a student.

After school at Joseph Gale Elementary, parents were still absorbing the news. Police say 29-year-old Joshua Brown, walked right into the school's front doors. He got in just with the main shuffle of kids exiting. Then walked into a classroom, picked up an 7-year-old boy, and tried to walk away with him.

The school's principal, Gretchen Schlag, says Brown panicked, dropped the boy, and ran out.  She and a staff member went after him and called 911. Brown ran away into the neighborhood and into Pete Reichard's garage, where he allegedly tried to steal Reichard's car.

Police officers finally found Brown hiding in a neighbor's back yard and put him in handcuffs.

The 7-year-old was not physically hurt. Brown, who was wanted on a felony warrant, faces new charges of kidnapping, burglary, and several other offenses, with parents relieved to have him off the streets.
