A California mayor resigns after tossing dog poop into yard

A Southern California mayor who gained notoriety for tossing a bag of poop into a neighbor's yard has resigned.

The incident was caught on security camera back in early June. It shows San Marino mayor Dennis Kneier tossing a plastic bag on the walkway of a home.

The homeowner had a sign in his yard that read "no poop zone" and had supported a proposal for a local dog park.

After dealing with what he called continuing public fallout and embarrassment from the incident, the mayor resigned his position. He had previously apologized, but, was cited for littering by the San Marino Police Department.
