GM recalls 230,000 midsize SUVs over fire risk

General Motors is recalling nearly 230,000 SUVs because of a fire danger.

GM says water can get into an electronic module in the door, causing it to short circuit and catch on fire.

The recall includes:

  • 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL SUVs;
  • 2006 and 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier, Saab 9-7x and Isuzu Ascender SUVs;
  • And some 2005 model year 9-7xs vehicle owners will be contacted to bring their vehicles into a GM dealer for repair.
  • The maker says owners can find out more by calling the appropriate brand hotline: Buick at 1-800-521-7300, Chevy at 1-866-694-6546, GMC at 1-866-996-9463, Isuzu at 1-800-255-6727, and Saab at 1-855-880-0808.
