Local pet store donates food to animal shelter

Medford, Ore. -- Dogs and cats looking for a home are given a special gift. A giant pallet of food was donated to Southern Oregon Humane Society.

Rogue Valley Pet, located in the Winco Shopping Center, gave away hundreds of pounds of premium dog and cat food. A donation that will allow the humane society to stretch resources.

Ken Altine with Southern Oregon Humane Society says, "It saves us money that we can apply to our save and train program to get animals out of high kill shelters. It helps us afford to do special needs surgeries."

Owners of Rogue Valley Pet say they often  receive bonus bags of food and ask their suppliers to make donations for a good cause.
