Low water danger

Ore. --- Warnings from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, some lake levels are so low boaters are getting stuck.

It's because of the drought. Hyatt Lake's only 17% full and Emigrant is at 30%. Howard Prairie Lake is 37% full, Fish Lake is at 26%, Willow Lake is at 79%, and Four Mile Lake is 10% full.

Deputies say they want to put out buoys, but it's impossible because the levels change daily, so they're asking, be cautious when you boat and pay attention to the hazards around you.

Signs have been posted at all Jackson County boat launches, reminding people of the shallow water. At this point all bodies of water are still open and available for public use. Due to the deep depths Applegate and Lost Creek Lake are the most user friendly lakes in the county.
