Longtime CBS news man Mike Wallace has died.
Wallace's on-air confrontations helped make "60 Minutes" the most successful prime-time news program ever.
Wallace retired from CBS in 2006, but continued contributing to "60 Minutes" through 2008.
That year he was slowed by heart surgery.
He passed away Saturday night at an assisted living facility in New Haven, Connecticut.
Wallace began his news career in chicago in the 1940s, first as a radio news writer and then as a reporter for WMAQ.
He started at CBS in 1951.
Wallace was 93-years-old.
