Northern California fires

Northern California -- Siskiyou County was hit yesterday with over 955 lightning strikes recorded.

Fire officials say at least 26 fires started in the Happy Camp, Salmon and Goosenest Ranger districts.

The larger of the new fires include the 150 acre Whites Fire and the 15 acre Leef Fire in the Salmon/Scott Ranger district.

In the Happy Camp/Oak Knoll district the Beaver Fire is also at 150 acres.

It's located north of the Oak Knoll work station on highway 96.

California officials say they're firefighting resources are getting stretched thin.
