Seattle, Wash. --- (NBC News) Gunshots rang out at Seattle Pacific University Thursday.
When it was over one person was dead and three others wounded.
It began when a man armed with a shotgun walked into the foyer of a building and opened fire. As he tried to reload the shooter was immediately confronted and subdued by a student monitor.
"At that point, pepper sprayed that person, then got them to the ground where other people inside of the facility were able to subdue him and they waited for police to arrive," says Seattle Police Captain Chris Fowler.
Authorities are crediting that quick response with saving lives.
