Portland, Ore. -- (OPB) The Portland Trail Blazers will take on the Houston Rockets in the first round of the NBA playoffs.
The Blazers closed the regular season with a winning record and will travel to Houston to open up the series on Sunday.
The Blazers won nine of their last 10 games. They ended the season with 54 wins and 28 losses. That’s the same record as the Rockets, but the Blazers lost home court advantage because they had a losing record against the Rockets during the regular season.
Both teams have two All-Stars on their rosters. The Blazers have LaMarcus Aldridge and Damian Lillard. The Rockets have James Harden and Dwight Howard.
Ben Golliver writes the Blazers’ Edge blog. He says this match up is the exact opposite of boring.
“Any time you’ve got four All-Stars on the court, two teams that like to go up and down, and really trust their offenses and they love to shoot, you know if you’re a basketball purist, I think you’re going to be really liking this series because it should be really fun," he said.
The Blazers haven't been to the playoffs since 2011, when they fell to the Dallas Mavericks in the first round.
