Pensacola, Fla. -- (NBC News) A massive explosion at a Florid jail has left two dead and more than 150 others injured.
The blast ripped through the booking facility at the Escambia County Jail in Pensacola late Wednesday evening.
More than 600 inmates and corrections officers were inside the building at the time of the explosion, which authorities believe was the result of a natural gas leak caused by flooding in the jail's laundry room.
Officials are warning the death toll could rise.
"Right now the building is so insecure that our folks cannot gain entry to do an appropriate head count of the inmates," Sheriff David Morgan said during a morning press conference. "We're looking for anymore that may be deceased."
