Both sides rally for measure 15-119

Medford, Ore. -- Supporters of a ban on genetically modified crops rallied outside the Jackson County Courthouse Tuesday.

Anti-GMO activists claim a pro-GMO lobby group misled voters and that much of the funding behind the push to stop 15-119 comes from outside interests like major seed manufacturing companies who don't farm in Southern Oregon.

An hour later, several major agricultural organizations gathered on the steps of the county headquarters voicing their opposition to the proposed GMO ban.

Representatives from the Oregon Cattleman's Association, Oregon Farm Bureau and Oregon Seed Council among others joined together to call on Jackson County voters to vote no on measure 15-119.

They call 15-119 an assault on the rights of Jackson County farmers.
