Central Point, Ore. -- A 78 year old man was taken to the hospital Sunday afternoon after a fire tore through his Central Point home.

Firefighters say the fire broke out shortly before 4 pm on the 600 block of North 3rd Street.

Multiple crews from Jackson County Fire District 3 and Medford Fire put the blaze out.

Most of the damage was contained to one room but smoke damage was done throughout the home.

As standard protocol, Pacific Power and Avista Gas were called in to turn off services.

The condition of the man is unknown.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
