Talent, Ore. -- The second medical marijuana dispensary in the Rogue Valley opened on Friday.

Green Valley Wellness LLC, a medical marijuana dispensary, is now open in Talent, and business was steady.

"It's been overwhelming and amazing. We had a line from the moment we opened and it's been nonstop," said Michael Monarch, CEO of Green Valley Wellness LLC.

Monarch said they currently have 10 strains of cannabis all grown locally, three of them indoor and seven of them outdoor.

"Our prices are ranging from $8-$12 per gram. There's also discount on volume for flowers or buds," said Monarch.

Among the customers flooding into the dispensary, were entrepreneurs like Sandy Thompson.

"I am here to introduce my new products. I make Sandy's candies which are OMMP products, lotions and salves," said Thompson.

The recreational marijuana industry in Washington and Colorado is expected to bring in millions of dollars, and that's getting Thompson's attention.

"Look at Colorado for example, how much they made," she said.

Aside from her aspirations to sell her products at medical marijuana dispensaries statewide, Thompson said it's important that a dispensary open in Talent.

"It makes it so that the patients who don't have a grower or can't find a grower can come and get their medications," explained Thompson.

"This is the safest access, not just a safe place, which we've tried to create a professional environment, an upscale very comfortable setting, but also medicine that is truly laboratory tested by a local PhD chemist," said Monarch.

The Mayor of Talent said they haven't heard much outcry about having a dispensary in town.

"I think a lot of people are making a big thing of this. In Talent I think we look at it as another business...I think we have a tolerant community that's willing to see what happens," said Mayor William Cecil.

Talent currently has a temporary dispensary ban in place to make rules, however Green Valley Wellness was grandfathered in because their business license application was put in before the ban.

"The city council was incredibly thoughtful," began Monarch.

"We're just so thrilled," he continued.

He said he's happy the city has allowed him to operate for the dozens of people who visited his dispensary today who will have a safe place to get their medicine.

The business is located at 103 North Pacific Highway. They are open Tuesday through Sunday from 11am-7pm.

Breeze Botanicals, a dispensary in Gold Hill, opened in early June.
