911 service restored in northern Douglas County

Update (5/16 10am): Service has since been restored. According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office it was restored overnight Friday.

Northern Douglas County -- The Douglas County 911 center has been notified of a telephone service outage affecting 911 service in northern Douglas County including: Rice Hill, Yoncalla, Drain, Elkton, and Scottsburg. 

People in the affected area may not able to dial 911 from their land line telephone. They will be able to reach 911 on a cellular phone if necessary.

Residents may also go to the following locations to call 911:

- Elkton Fire Department, Hwy 138 at Hwy 38, Elkton
- North Douglas County Fire Department, 531 Old Highway 99, Drain
- Scottsburg Fire Department, 33237 St. Hwy. 38, Scottsburg

It is not known how long 911 service will be down.
