California man arrested in Redwood Nat'l Forest poaching investigation

Orick, Cali. -- A Northern California man has been arrested on suspicion of poaching trees in the Redwood National Forest.

A yearlong investigation lead to the arrest of Danny E. Garcia of Orick, California.

He faces charges of grand theft, vandalism and receiving stolen property.

Authorities say he cut the burls out of numerous redwoods and sold them to eventually be turned into souvenirs and furniture.

The shop where he sold them is currently not under investigation.

vAn anonymous tip lead authorities to the shop where they matched the stolen burls to the damaged trees.
