Medford, Ore. -- A nearly full Applegate Lake means a busy holiday weekend and big business. But with the drought putting water in short supply, the camp host says summer months could be a different story.

Bill Lewis has been in charge of the lake for several years and said they've been booked for Memorial weekend for a month.

"We'll be getting a lot of business from other fisherman that usually go to the other lakes [but they're at Applegate now] because their lakes don't have any water in them," said Lewis. But even though this lake is full right now, at 90-percent of normal, water is already running thin.

Lewis said this is because the drought water from the lake is already being released for people who live nearby that have water rights. He says on a normal water year, its not released until July 5th.
