On Wednesday, in a Jackson County courtroom, the mother of Kristy Huddleston and a slew of first responders took to the stand as witnesses for the prosecution.

What happened

Kristy Huddleston was killed on March 23, 2012 at her home in the 6600 block of Pioneer Road in Jackson County. She was found with a gunshot wound to the head.

At the center of the investigation is Kristy's husband Bourne Huddleston. He's being tried on multiple charges of murder, attempted aggravated murder, and solicitation to commit murder.

Prosecutors contend Huddleston first tried to hire a hitman to kill his wife, but ended up pulling the trigger himself.

Heartbreaking 911 recording played in court

Arguably the most emotional part on Wednesday was hearing the 911 call from Huddleston's 10-year-old boy on the night his mom was killed.

"I need help now, she has blood all over her mouth," the boy said to the 911 dispatcher.

According to the 911 recording, Huddleston's son described waking up to his mom screaming. He then said he heard his dad say "Are you okay?" He describes his mother making a moaning sound.

Recorded interview with couple's son shown in court

In a recorded interview with a Jackson County Sheriff's deputy, the little boy said after he woke up, he asked his father what happened. Huddleston responded that he didn't know.

The 10-year-old said Huddleston grabbed what he described as an M4 gun as well as handcuffs and went outside. According to the interview, when Huddleston came back, he told his son to go back to sleep. Shortly after, the boy said he heard his dad's truck engine start up.

At that point, the little boy said he went to see if his mom was awake. He said he discovered her with something covering her face; an officer later said in court that the item was a pillow. According to Huddleston's son and multiple officer accounts, there was blood everywhere.

What first responders had to say

Law enforcement, who could not be shown on video inside the courtroom, also took to the stand describing the gory scene they saw when they arrived.

"I remember...blood splatter on the ceiling...a lot of blood on both sides of the bed," said Oregon State Police trooper Damion Hillyer on the witness stand.

10-yr-old boy tries to save his mom

According to the 911 tape, the Huddleston's 10-year-old son tried to save Kristy's life by performing CPR until police arrived.

"He was covered in what appeared to be blood...head, torso, shoulders, face," said Deputy Steven Scow with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.

According to interviews with the 10-year-old, after Huddleston grabbed a gun and handcuffs, he took off in his red pick up truck.

Police used his cell phone location to find him at another home. That's where police arrested him.

Huddleston's sister Genetta Huddleston Coradetti was in court for a pre-trial hearing back in June of 2013.

She's accused of hiring a hitman to kill the original hitman that Huddleston allegedly hired. Prosecutors said the original hitman testified saying he accepted money from Huddleston.

However the two cases are separate.

Bourne Huddleston's trial is expected to last almost two weeks in length.
