A North Carolina man is behind bars, after police say he lead them on a 20 mile chase on I-5 early Saturday morning.

According to the Oregon State Police, 24 year old Daniel C. Richard was pulled over near mile-marker 78, north of Wolf Creek for a traffic violation. Shortly after stopping, police say Richard failed to yield and took off.

Officers with the Douglas County Sheriff's office and Myrtle Creek police set up spike strips and they were successful in flattening 3 of the tires.

Richard came to a complete stop near milepost 102 south of Myrtle Creek, where he was arrested. Police are still unsure why he fled, but he remains behind bars, charged with a felony 'attempt to elude' in a vehicle.
