Medford, Ore.-- A new law will go into effect Saturday, March 1st, which will require families who want to be exempt from vaccine shots to take extra steps.

Currently, Oregon families can just opt out of vaccines but the new requirements mean those families now must sit with their doctors or watch an interactive online video which will explain the benefit of vaccines for certification.

Oregon has the highest vaccine opt-out rates in the country at 5.9 percent.

The Oregon Pediatric Society says Cave Junction has a exemption rate of about 25 percent, leaving them more vulnerable to diseases.

Learn more about the new law and hear how some Southern Oregonian's feel about the change.
